Noyes Memorial Hospital has been recognized by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and The Rochester Business Journal for their efforts to encourage and support wellness among their employees. Noyes will receive a 2010 "Wealth of Health Award" at a June 10 luncheon at Rochester's Hyatt Regency for being an "employer that fosters a healthy workplace through a mix of programs or policies." Noyes Hospital is one of 12 other employers in the Rochester region who is receiving the Wealth of Health award. Honorees of the Wealth of Health award were judged on the creativity of their initiatives, active participation, ability to effect measure improvements, sustainability and outcomes of their programs.
Noyes promotes wellness in a variety of ways through its WWF (Work * Wellness * Family) Wellness program. Recently, wellness activities have focused on reinforcing healthy behaviors, which have included tracking physical activity, water consumption, and fruit and vegetable servings, as they 'walk' their way to the Gulf of Mexico. Improving sleep habits, reducing stress, and weight management have also been also a part of the WWF's 'Simply Fit' Winter Olympics or Wellness' program. Employees were also asked to rate new, healthy entrees in the Noyes cafeteria. As result, employees are able to make healthier choices such as exercising more, eating more fruits and vegetables, and getting fit.
The Noyes WWF Wellness committee has been the force behind all of these initiatives and is to be commended for their leadership in this area.
WWF is supported by the Livingston Wellness Partnership, a group of local health and wellness agencies working together to assist worksites with their wellness efforts through programming and consultation.
